AEA Awards

AEA Divisions offer various awards and recognitions for current school teachers, administrators, postsecondary employees, education professionals, and students.

 

 

 

Administrators Division 

 

Assistant Principal of the Year Award

 

The AEA Administrator Board is accepting nominations from locals for the Working Assistant Principal of the Year Aard for 2021. This award in given to emphasize the contributions of a working assistant principal in promoting public education. The purpose of the award is to recongize an individual who shows outstanding acommplishments in one or more of the following areas:

  • Innovations to support the day-to-day educational process
  • Professional achivements in his/her classification
  • Involvement in the promoting of public education in the community
  • Enhancement of the image of educators in the Association, worksite or community.

Classroom Teachers (ACT) Division

 

Dr. Tyna Davis Innovation in Education Scholarship

 

Recognizing that AEA's classroom teachers possess a great deal of experience and expertise to be shared with colleagues around instructional and teacher leadership issues, the Association of Classroom Teachers (ACT) is sponsoring the Dr. Tyna Davis Innovation in Education Scholarship. Seven (7) $500 scholarships for innovative teaching and learning projects to be implemented in Alabama's classrooms during the 2022-2023 school year will be awarded. One (1) scholarship per ACT district will be awarded.

Education Support Professionals (ESP) Division

 

Sherry Tucker Leadership Award

 

Recognizes an ESP who shows outstanding leadership. Must be an Education Support Professional (ESP) employee and shall have a minimum of 5 years membership and has shown outstanding leadership on the local, state and/or national level. 


Pioneer Award

 

An ESP with 5+ years membership and outstanding contributions to the Association.


Doris Strode Champion Award

 

An individual who has shown service and dedication to ESP at the local, state, and national levels. 


Shining Star Award

 

Recognizes an individual who shows outstanding accomplishments in one or more of the following areas:

  • Innovations to support the day-to-day educational process
  • Professiona achievements in his/her classification
  • Involvement in promoting public education in the community
  • Enhancement of the image of ESPs in the Association, worksite, or community.

Postsecondary Division

 

Outstanding Postsecondary Award

 

In an effort to recognize and honor outstanding postsecondary members within AEA and to publicize the achievement of postsecondary members, the AEA Postsecondary Division Executive Committee has created the Outstanding Postsecondary Member Award. The award will be presented at the next Postsecondary Conference. 

 

To  be eligible for the award, the nominee must have engaged in activities relating to one or more of the following:

  • Provided leadership in higher education;
  • Promoted, designed and coordinated programs which enhance the relationship between higher education and the community (preK-12, business, international, etc.);
  • Worked to improve relations and understanding among higher education groups (private institutions, other faculty and staff organizations, NCAA, etc.);
  • Developed and promoted legislation impacting higher education;
  • Contributed to the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) mission, goals and advocacy.

 

Nominations must include a completed nomination form, a statement outlining in some detail the accomplishments as related  to the criteria as well as any supporting documentation which would be helpful to the Awards Committee when selecting the winner.
